Marcus had heard the shower shut off, but she still hadn’t come out. He glanced at his watch and glared down the hallway. The shower had shut off several minutes ago, so where was she? He wanted to see her, to make sure she was okay after last night. He’d introduced her to making love, but she’d been such an eager student, he hadn’t been able to stop. All night long, he’d taken her into his arms and made love to her. She was like a goddess, so beautiful when she climaxed in his arms that he wanted to do it over and over again.

He loved the way she snuggled up to him too. It was like she needed confirmation that he was still there with her. Which was perfectly fine with him, since he felt the same way. In various ways, he’d tried to encourage her to touch him, to need him the same way he needed her.

But it was more than just sex. He needed all of her, every beautiful aspect of her personality fascinated him. He couldn’t count the number of times he’d dropped by her house over the past several months only to find her digging in her garden. One afternoon, he’d been sipping a beer, relaxing in one of her comfortable chairs while she talked about something and dug around in her garden. Ostensibly, he’d come over to discuss business, but the truth was, he’d just wanted to be with her. As he’d watched, he’d fantasized about ripping all of the plants out and tossing them away so that she’d have to pay attention to him. He hadn’t, of course, because he knew how much she loved her plants and flowers. But still…

Time to find his woman. The water had been off for a while and, if he knew Becca, she would be trying to hide from him, not sure what to do. His body reacted to just the thought that no other man had ever touched her like he had last night.

Walking down the hallway towards his bedroom, he certainly hoped she wasn’t too sore after all that they’d done the previous night because he was sincerely hoping….

The sight that greeted him when he glanced through the doorway tore at his chest. “Ah hell, Becca,” he said gently as he moved quickly into her bedroom. She was sitting at the end of her bed, looking painfully dejected. “I didn’t want to wake you up. I know I did that enough last night, and I wanted you to get some sleep.”

She looked up at him with those pretty golden eyes and he didn’t stop until he had her in his arms and settled on his lap. Kissing her gently, he smoothed his hands over her back. “What’s wrong, honey? Talk to me.”

Becca almost groaned with his touch, curling into it as if she were a cat needing more affection. “I just didn’t know what the correct thing to do or say after…well, last night,” she finished off.
